Beneath The Mask

It's human nature to hide true selves, our feelings our sorrows and sometimes even our happiness beneath a superficial mask. The mask that sometimes make us look strong in times of hardships, when looking weak hurts others around us who worry for us. A mask that makes us look happy in those never ending moments of sadness. A mask that shows us a brave person when a tragedy befalls us.

But in reality are you what you seem to be?  Do we really need to hide what we feel, that we don't want to hide anything anymore? You do this maybe because you are afraid, afraid that no one could understand what you feel and what you expect. You are puzzled and in this haste start hiding yourself.

What we do is, blend in, let our feelings be reshaped until the situation subsides and wait for another one.The cycle repeats so long that we never stop, accumulating every true feeling inside our heart and mind. Stop it before you can't go on anymore, before it's too late.

"Don't wear a mask so long that it molds who you are."

Between all this juggling, somewhere our true face is lost. We forget what we actually feel, become numb & unmoved by happenings that once mattered to us. Learn to take that fake face of yours off every now and then. See reflection of yourself, let God know what you want and let your special ones realize what they mean to you. You'll always find one person who will accept as you are, would love to see you without that mask and see the real 'you'.Be it your family or friends and yes there's always God :)

Embrace your Inner Child :)

Nobody wanted this when growing up, but somewhere in this journey, that spirit of the child within you is lost.

"Learn from a child who is true to the world
Laughing when he's happy
Crying when hurt
But never hides himself from the world."

Of all the masks that I wear,
Which is the one do you truly seek.
Do you wish to see the happy me,
in the times when I feel gloomy.
Do you wish to see the ecstatic me,
even when I'm troubled if you could see.
Do you wish to see the courageous me,
when fear is all I can see.
Do you wish to see funny me,
when sadness engulfs me.
Do you wish to see an earnest me,
even if that is I not wish to be.
Do you wish to see an honest me,
even though the lies bring me relief.
Do you wish to see the merciful me,
even when deceit surrounds me.
Or perhaps, you wish to see what lies beneath
Under the many faces I carry,
To see a smile on the faces I love,
to turn their sorrows into dust.
To share a joke with a friend,
and laugh like there's no end.
To be happy as I am
with no regrets in my mind.
Of all the masks that I wear,
Which is the one do you truly seek.
